Curly hair can be difficult to manage. It’s so unpredictable! One day you wake up, and your hair is smooth and straight as a pin, but then a few hours later it looks like you’ve been playing in a wind tunnel—and if we’re being honest here, that’s often the case when I leave the house. When my curls get out of control (which is most days), I always turn to homemade conditioners for help. They’re easy to make at home (and cheap too!). Below are some delicious recipes that will tame even the curliest locks:
Avocado and banana conditioner
Bananas are rich in potassium and magnesium, two minerals that help keep the hair strong. Avocados contain vitamins A, B, C, E and K as well as antioxidants that promote healthy hair for anyone with curls. Both bananas and avocados have fatty acids which nourish the scalp. The proteins found in these fruits are also beneficial for curly hair because they strengthen the strands from root to tip without weighing down your tresses. How Tall is Lil Uzi
Greek Yogurt And Coconut Milk Deep Conditioner
Greek yogurt and coconut milk are both good for your hair. If you’re not sure what kind of yogurt to use, Greek yogurt is a good choice. Likewise, if you haven’t bought coconut milk in a while, it might be time to give it another shot. This particular recipe uses canned coconut milk—it’s easy and takes less time than making your own (and has the added bonus of being cheaper).
Honey, olive oil and avocado conditioner
This combination of ingredients is great for all hair types, especially dry and damaged hair. The honey and olive oil are moisturizing while avocado acts as a deep conditioner. Apply to wet or dry hair, leave on for at least five minutes then rinse well. Use this homemade conditioner once or twice a week to keep your curls happy!
- Honey: 1-2 tablespoons (depending on length of your hair)
- Olive Oil: 1 teaspoon
- Avocado: 1/2 mashed up avocado
Egg And Olive Hair Conditioner
- Use a blender, whisk or hand mixer to mix the ingredients.
- Use a small bowl and a whisk for this recipe, as it’s easier to get the egg white into your hair when you’re working with smaller quantities of product.
- If you want to use more than one egg white (or if you don’t have access to fresh eggs), use a large bowl and whisk instead of an electric mixer—the extra volume will allow you more room for movement while mixing in the other ingredients, which will make applying them much simpler!
Yogurt and honey conditioner
For this treatment, you’ll need:
- 1 cup plain yogurt (or Greek yogurt)
- 1 tablespoon honey
Apply the mixture to your hair, starting at the ends and working toward the roots. Leave it on for 15 minutes before rinsing it out with warm water. If your hair needs a little more love, repeat this process one or two more times until you have achieved your desired results! Finish off by applying a deep conditioner and letting it sit in while you wash your face or do something else that doesn’t involve moving too much—it will give some extra conditioning to your curls without weighing them down too much.
